System 1

  • Concept introduced by Daniel Kahneman in his book Thinking, Fast and Slow.
  • Kahneman models our cognitive behaviors with two systems that work in parallel of each others, System 1 and System 2.
  • System 1 is fast and automatic, while System 2 is slow and intentional.
  • System 1 excels at simple intuitive tasks and require very low effort. System 2 requires high effort and is used for more complex tasks that System 1 cannot solve on its own.
